Guangdong’s foreign trade achieved positive growth for three consecutive months

1、The proportion of general trade exports continues to increase, and cross-border e-commerce grows significantly

In August, Guangdong’s general trade import and export amounted to 340.85 billion yuan, an increase of 10.3%, and a decrease of 0.4% from January to July, accounting for 52.2% of Guangdong’s total foreign trade import and export value, an increase of 3.2 percentage points from the same period last year. The import and export of processing trade was 169.27 billion yuan, a decrease of 18.3%. Bonded logistics, market procurement, and cross-border e-commerce import and export developed well. Among them, the import and export of bonded logistics was 100.43 billion yuan, an increase of 18.2%, an increase of 8.9 percentage points from January to July. The market purchase export was 35.64 billion yuan, an increase of 52%, an increase of 0.7% over the period from January to July. In addition, cross-border e-commerce imports and exports amounted to 21.96 billion yuan, an increase of 145.1%.

2、The largest import and export scale of private enterprises in the country

In August, the import and export of private enterprises in Guangdong was 366.83 billion yuan, an increase of 12.9%, an increase of 9.3 percentage points from January to July, accounting for 56.2% of Guangdong’s total foreign trade import and export value in the same period, an increase of 4.7 percentage points from the same period last year. The import and export of foreign-invested enterprises fell by 7.2%, and the import and export of state-owned enterprises fell by 0.2%. The import and export scale of private enterprises in Guangdong continues to rank first in the country, accounting for more than a quarter of the import and export of private enterprises in the country.

3、Imports and exports to ASEAN continue to grow, imports and exports to the U.S. and EU stop falling and rebound

ASEAN, the United States, Hong Kong, and the European Union (excluding the United Kingdom) are still Guangdong’s top four trading partners. Among them, in August, Guangdong’s imports and exports to ASEAN increased by 9.3%, an increase of 1.3 percentage points from January to July. Driven by the export of medical supplies and “home economy” commodities, Guangdong’s imports and exports to the United States increased significantly by 23.4%, and fell by 6.6% from January to July. Over the same period, Guangdong’s imports and exports to the EU increased by 3.9%, and fell by 2.4% from January to July; imports and exports to Hong Kong fell by 10.6%, which was 2.1 percentage points lower than that from January to July.

4、Imports of major mechanical and electrical products, resource commodities and key agricultural products increased

In August, Guangdong’s imports of integrated circuits, computers and their parts and components increased by 12.6% and 8.7% respectively; strong domestic demand for resources and low prices in the international market, imports of unwrought copper and copper, unwrought aluminum and aluminum Increases by 42.9% and 337.9% respectively; imports of key consumer goods such as pork and soybeans increased by 142.2% and 150.8% respectively.

5、The export of “home economy” commodities and anti-epidemic materials increased significantly

In August, affected by the foreign epidemic situation, Guangdong’s “home economy” commodity exports increased significantly. Among them, the exports of computers and their parts and components and household appliances increased by 14.4% and 28.3% respectively, and the exports of plastic products, furniture and their parts increased by 19.1% and 9% respectively. Over the same period, the export of integrated circuits increased by 26.6%. The export of textiles including masks increased by 194.8%, the export of medical devices increased by 28.4%, and the export of pharmaceuticals increased by 3.5%.

On the whole, the situation of foreign epidemic prevention and control is still severe and complicated, and there is a large demand for medical and epidemic prevention materials and “household” supplies, which will form a strong support for Guangdong’s exports in the short term.
